Just found this today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BICo3pNxobI Don't think it's been put up anywhere here yet. I wanted to overtype the link like everyone else does here and be all cool but it's not happening.  Pfft.

Full set. I've been wanted to see it since... well... then.

Watching now, thanks for that!

They are going to be EPIC at EOTR.

And I'd bet my favourite shoes (rancid ancient dark blue Converse hi tops) they're going to be on at the same time as Eels and be the festival clash that breaks my heart.

I've been about thinking this for a while.

PS You Rock My World.

Who is PS?

I can't tell if you're serious or not, but if you are...

lol, I feel like a right patronising berk!  :D

 ;D

As someone who works with words, it would be shameful if I hadn't thought of that!

I just have this feeling they're someone's initials.
And no, Mr B, not Patrick Stewart's.

Unless E is an undeclared nailed-on Trekkie, of course.

free for all / Re: Travel: Amsterdam

I drove in California and Idaho and it was totally fine, even in LA and San Francisco. In general i found that people drive slower in the US and are much less aggressive and less prone to cutting you up or pulling out in front of you.
I don't reckon anyone who drives here regularly would have a problem with driving over there.

NB. They drive on the wrong side of the road though...

I don't know if it's been posted yet. Eels are doing V Festival (arena stage)!

I believe I had a minor rant about this on another thread :)

On a serious note though, hot weather can jolly well clear off. Any hotter than this for the next three months and I shant be happy. Roll on October.

Can't help but agree.

I'm off to Italy tomorrow for a few days and the forecast is 28/30 degrees every day. I am either going to melt or cry.

I would have driven up for this but I'm seeing Neil Young on that day. Guess that'll be the only actual UK gig date too.
Booooo

Fucking V Festival. Not cool.

Yeah.
The rest of the line-up is so bad I'm not even vaguely considering a day ticket.

The worst of it is that Eels are not even playing the second stage. They are on the third stage, way down on the bill. The equivalent act on the other day is bloody Mark Owen. A solo set from the worst singer in Take That.

About as far from cool as it's possible to get.

Is that a separate gig and not part of a festival? The only one so far that's like that if it is. I wonder if there'll be others.

wonderful glorious / Re: What do YOU think of Wonderful, Glorious?
« on: May 24, 2013, 04:40:05 PM »
Nah, the majority of people have a moderate to positive opinion on the latest album.

Yeah, I think that's about right.

It may seem a bit negative here at times but I think on the whole it's a pretty friendly place. Good to have a bit of balance rather than everyone just being frothingly hyperbolic and refusing to allow anything other than slavish adoration.

And I've enjoyed spending time with everyone I've met  from here in real life.

As far as the album goes, a few months after release I'm finding that it's not one I think I'd put in the top half of his output.
but there are enough tracks on there that for me personally are becoming stone-cold Eels classics (the Turnaround, Peach Blossom, Wonderful, Glorious) but equally there are probably more songs on here that I could skip over, which is pretty much unheard-of for me with other Eels albums.

E performs 'A Song For You' by Leon Russell  :)

I have been rinsing the absolute hell out of this ever since I first heard it, can NOT stop playing it.

I am becoming concerned that my addiction will eventually cause me to lose my friends, my teeth and my sanity.

If anyone notices it as an mp3 for sale anywhere, pleeeeeease let me know as going to the website every time is getting old...

I did!
i really enjoyed the film and his music in the context of the documentary.
Hasn't made me a massive full-on fan of his music but i liked both and I'd say it was totally worth a watch and a listen.
The journalist in me noticed a few questions that were asked and unanswered which bugged me a little but on the whole it was good.

I think M and S are much bigger in the States than we realise over here. They were higher up the bill than Foo Fighters and other bands I thought were way bigger at the Bridge School Benefit 18 months ago.

Still seems wrong though, doesn't it?!  ???
