Speaking of hardcore double albums: Hüsker Dü's Zen Arcade is an awesome album too. I'm familiar with The Minutemen but I haven't purchased any of their records yet. Will do soon.

I'm listening to Enjoy by Descendents for the first time. It's shit. Almost literally.

If you skip the fart tracks and the more "heavy metal" ones you get a decent album. It has three of my Descendents faves on it: Sour Grapes, Get the Time and the Beach Boys cover Wendy. I must admit though that most of the times those are all the tracks from it I listen to.
Did you skip I Don't Want to Grow Up? That's their second best - after Milo of course. The live album Liveage is very good too.

As for me: I started investigating Stephin Merrit's other projects and some of it is on a par with The Magnetic Fields. The Gothic Archies' The Tragic Treasury is superb, I might like it better than anything TMF have done post 69 Love Songs.

I've only recently got in to them. I have no idea why it took so long.

I was probably too busy listening to Minutemen. My top two albums on Last.fm are:

1. Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime - 1178 plays
2. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs - 357 plays

Yeah, I like that album quite a bit. I highly recommend the Minutemen movie "We Jam Econo". Even if you don't like punk you have to admire their approach to music and their ideals. To me they are the embodiment of what Punk is all about.

i should re-listen to double nickels on the dime. i heard it for the first time four-ish years ago but i didn't pay 100% attention to it at the time; i feel i need to re-evaluate it now.

i read the minutemen's section in "our band could be your life" and i really, really identified with what the people in the band talked about and it made me want to give them another chance.

Speaking of hardcore double albums: Hüsker Dü's Zen Arcade is an awesome album too. I'm familiar with The Minutemen but I haven't purchased any of their records yet. Will do soon.

zen arcade is one of the best albums ever. like ever ever. if you're reading this sentence and you haven't heard it, go

I'm still finding new things to enjoy on that album. Every time I listen to it there's something new. I feel like I'm neglecting the other albums a bit, but it's so good I can't help myself.

Since Double Nickels was their attempt at a Zen Arcade I feel like I should have listened to it by now. I will buy it soon.

The Frank Ocean album. I'm not sure about it. It's rather glossy for my liking. I'll keep trying with it.

I've been listening to The Velvet Underground a lot recently. A lot.

Sister Ray and After Hours are the best closing tracks ever. They're polar opposites as well. After Hours is a short and sweet little song and Sister Ray is 17 minutes of chaos. Brilliant, brilliant chaos.

Can't Mantain by Andrew Jackson Jihad. It strikes me as a less pretentious, more forward Neutral Milk Hotel.
