Well, only three members rated the songs of BLAOR, so that wasn't really enough for significant results (it's not too late! Go here if you still want to participate!), but maybe we'll be able to that with its predecessor - the fact that it's 20 songs shorter should be useful here.

I agree that this was harder with BLAOR. If there is 33 songs it is so long and sprawling that it is easy to lose focus on it. Single songs are not that important and it´s more like the whole experience. 10-14 songs is much easier.

A fine album once again. Only the jarring All In A Day´s Work is not so good as an opener but I accept it as a moodsetter. Sometimes I find it okay but compared to other material 2,5 is the maximum I can give. Saturday Morning is just so good rocker that it´s all forgotten and then it´s just a fun ride to Somebody Loves you.

05.   Dirty Girl  3.5 I like it and the lyrics, I just think the way he sings it is kinda unnatural.

08.   Restraining Order Blues  4 I love it as well, the lyrics are just so eloquent
09.   Lone Wolf  4.5 Really, really excellent, nice tempo, nice song
10.   Wrong About Bobby  2 I really don't like it, I thing one of the worst Eels songs ever...
11.   Numbered Days  4 good song
12.   Fashion Awards  4 i like the way the show business is described.
13.   Somebody Loves You   4 A nice song that gives you some hope that maybe some day, you'll find someone

I always wondered why people said this album was crap, in my opinion, only the fist songs are half crap/half shit, Wrong about Bobby being super crap. But, to be honest, some of the songs are really excellent and would deserve more respect. It's a good album with a few downs and that's probably why it was badly considered. This album would have deserved more production, and some efforts in songwriting on a few songs...

I always thought of "Shootenanny!" to be a very good Eels record, a straight-forward guitar soft-rock album. There're some phenomenal tracks on it. And "Wrong About Bobby" is not that bad as some say, I think.
Plus: this is the album which got me into Eels, so it will always be a special one for me.

I agree that Blinking Lights was just too daunting to rate, so that's why I didn't do it...

It would have the most number of 5 star songs for me though.

1 point off Saturday Morning purely because I have listened to it so many times and gotten a little bit fed up with it - unfair I suppose.  A couple of years ago it would have received 5 stars for sure.

Can't remember whether I've said this on the board before (probably I have, in which case sorry for boring you to death!).  But I love it so much in the video for that song when the guitar riff after the first verse kicks in at the exact time E starts stirring the batter while glowering at the camera - classic comedy!

This is my least favourite Eels album, but that doesn't mean much because it's still one of my favourite albums. I rate it less high than the other albums because it just doesn't have a cohesive feel to it, and it's a bit slow I think. Still, some of my favourite tracks are on here, including my favourite-song-ever-to-play-on-guitar, Somebody Loves You.

By no means my favourite Eels album, and not one I regularly return to. Still, there are some great songs on there, but only one that I consider to be truly five-star: I think "Numbered Days" could be one of the best songs he will ever write, though I am not too keen on the live version. "Saturday Morning" and "Fashion Awards"--seems like a bit of a marmite song--are close contenders. Some of the three-star songs are close contenders for an upgrade. "Agony," on the other hand, is a song I could happily not listen to for a long, long while.

Mine is Friendly Ghost, btw....

By eels anyway, my favourites ever to play are Alcohol by Beck and Something Changed by Pulp.  Very satisfying and easy for someone as useless at the guitar as I am... Supergrass songs are difficult, apart from Shotover Hill.  Ooh, and I love playing Malibu by Hole... witter, witter, witter....

And to steer back to topic - it is so nice to see Numbered Days doing so well....it took about 6-7 years for that to grow on me but now I love it.  Same with Fashion Awards...used to find it really depressing, in the days before I 'got' the humour of it.
