I'm glad eris is on the board.  I was starting to worry.

I'm glad "The Namesake" arrived from Netflix yesterday.  I loved the book, and I'm really looking forward to watching the film.

I'm glad my kids like books.

I'm glad coffee shops have proliferated in southeastern Wisconsin.

I'm glad I have a job during which I can listen to the Pipettes and check the board even on particularly busy days.

I'm glad the semester is almost over.

I love my first new bass strings. The factory strings were still on it. I got it second-hand in... June? Sounds so nice :).

I loved that book to - Jhumpa Lahiri is great fullstop. However I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the movie because I've not heard any good reviews. Let me know what you think of it.

I really really like the holiday decorations I put up yesterday on my patio.  I even have one of those lighted reindeer.  When I plugged it in I found out that it's head moves too and i got so excited I did a little dance in the yard.  Pictures to follow if I stay motivated...

I like sorting out my website. It's still shitty but in a different way (it used to be pretty but empty, now it's easy to update and full of stuff but kind of ugly... so it's more my style really!)

My Mum won't let my Dad have outdoor decorations, he has to look longingly at the neighbours decorations. Although, after 3/4 years of me and my sister fighting his corner she said she may let him pick some stuff out this year for the patio  :o

I just put up fairy lights in our lounge here, which is the only christmassy decoration I own although we're thinking about buying some tinsel and stuff, if we can afford it.

My boss gave me a christmas stocking today with a department store giftcard in it  :o Not sure how much money is on it, but I'm super suprised. He's been a big grump lately and I keep getting told off for talking when I shouldn't be. Plus, he was annoyed about my trip because he needed me for christmas shifts. Turns out I'm still valued!  8)

My social work professor let our whole class go listen to this speaker tonight instead of having class.  We all wanted to go, so he said, "okay, let's go".  The speaker was the President of the Minutemen, which are a group of people he leads who are all for building this wall around our border to keep illegal immigrants out, at all costs.  Most everyone there hated him and what he stands for.  It was interesting to watch the whole thing.  People were about to fight and everything.  I have to say though, this guy was mostly full of shit.  He kept saying things like, "anyone who wants to come here needs to assimilate as to the way the American people live," and then he said that he sympathizes with those who are desperate enough to have to come to the United States in order to survive, yet these minutemen are known to shoot on sight, any of these people who are trying to escape.

He really made a lot of people mad.  Some were there to support him, but not the majority.  I personally think that building a wall isn't the right thing to do.  I don't have a solution, but I really don't think building a wall is it.

but it was nice that we got to go to this anyway.

when will people start to learn from history and realize that building walls have never really worked?

We need to break psychological walls, not build physical walls.
