I just heard Fresh Feeling in (the quite mediocre) Failure To Launch. I went to Wikipedia to find a list of films Eels' songs has figured in, becuase I have a feeling it's quite a few. From the Wiki article, I found a link to this message board. I realized I like Eels so much that I would like to discuss him/them/it with other people. Yeah.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand (also known as 'How Bryan Singer screwed up two superhero films part 1') was on TV a few days ago, in the run up to it airing the adverts for it used an eels song, I bet you can't guess which one*.

I think the same song was used when Hellboy last aired here (as well as featuring in Hellboy 2, which I've still not seen), although I could be wrong, it seems someone has decided that it is the song to use for trailers of films involving unusual looking superheroes.

Thats Not Really Funny is the theme tune for Monkey Dust - was on a couple of years ago, was episodes of really weird short animations from british animators. Was an awesome series, very dark and twisted.
And maybe its time to live.

You deserve a prize!
I'd completely forgotten how awesome Monkey Dust was, I must track down some DVDs.

-Edit-
Damn, it seems only the first series got a DVD release.  :(

Oh, and whilst searching for Monkey dust, I also found I Am Not an Animal.  Another brilliant comedy series from the past that I'd forgotten about.
Yay!

Yeah, I think one of the main producers/driving forces behind it died after the first season was released on DVD which kinda stopped the other 2 being released. Also they had issues with song rights, they only had the right to use them on tv but not for sale, or something, which meant work had to be done to find other songs/record other versions of songs before the DVDs got made.

I have all the seasons downloaded, not that that helps you, unless you hunt me down and imprison me in my own home whilst you watch them, but don't do that, my house isn't tidy and we're nearly out of milk.

I have the first season on DVD, and am actually quite disappointed by it. Reason being that when i was year 9/10 it the program that suited my bizarre humour the best, but at that point it was season two (Barcelona... Madrid... etc)  Season is good, but nothing compared to the following seasons.

One of the things i have been meaning to do for about two years now is take a screen shot of the coming on of monkey dust. At one point there is a bird. It looks a lot like 'eels bird' to me. Coupled with TNRF, i think it deserves a mention...

Which is a bit weird. Back in the day, E was offered to have the song in a commercial and violently refused. Now he's putting it in all sorts of movies. Did he change his ways, or just needs money nowadays, or what? I can hardly imagine it's because he's a fan of Hellboy.

He explained this ages ago in interviews. He refuses to sell songs for commercials, because it makes him feel like a sell-out. He prefers to sell them to movies he does like, but he does sometimes sell  to movies he doesn't like (like road trip) because it gives him money or please the record company; AND he can somehow deal with it conscience-wise because it's at least "someone's idea of art". He has always been consequent about this..
