Text only cuts out all nonverbal communication (which is most of it) and I don't use smileys. It's no biggie.

maybe artists don't want to explain too much because they'd rather keeps parts of their personal life private.  and making music about it, is their way of taking often very complex emotions and thoughts and creating something that is significant to them.  they created it because they needed or wanted to, and people can take it or leave it.  i mean, i don't think the artist should have to explain why they created something, or divulge exactly the meaning behind it.  i guess it's always interesting to get the creators perspective on what inspired certain songs but if that doesn't happen, i don't automatically think, "well, if they can't or won't explain it, that means it doesn't mean anything in particualr to them."

Well said, Lucy.

I wish Grierson had kept quiet about Fresh Feeling. I really used to love that song and now I cringe.

Why? What'd he say about it?

(I'd have gotten the book myself by now, but my finances are stretched pretty thin. The price of the book is roughly half of my monthly budget for groceries. I'd rather eat something other than instant noodles for a while than buy a book...)
